This concept design was originally worked up in late 1990. The mixed media artwork, done for a builder/client, illustrates Smith's version of the classic 39/40 Mercury custom, brought up to date with modern lighting and glass, as well as other contemporary touches. This slippery sled, with its fade-a-way front fenders and suicide doors, appeared in Street Rodder's Winter 1996 edition of "Street & Custom Rodding Illustrated".
