About the Founders
Motorburg was founded by Charlie Smith and Ed Newton.
What drives us to dump our souls into the Motorburg Experience is simply a desire to share some of the rodding recollections and vehicular visions of our jaded past and presumptuous present, in hopes that our on-line visitors can relate to a love affair with not just the car, but cool or crazy-fast machines of all types… past, present and future.
A willingness to share private thoughts, ideas and opinions concerning the kinetic and dynamic world of wheels is a big part of where we come from, and you could say that our motives are mobile in nature; however, they’re also monetary in method, as the sale of our exclusive Motorburg product line will serve to insure the perpetuation and constant regeneration of our web-site content, and hopefully provide all who visit with hours and hours of eclectic enjoyment. It’s not so much a philosophy as a passion.

Hey Charlie & Ed! I’ve been sort of beating my head against the wall here, trying to use HubGarage.com to get artists for a SEMA/ARMO project I’m doing, a coloring book for the Take A Kid To A Car Show program. It’s 29 pages, and each page is sponsored by a company in the industry, so in this manner the entire print run is subsidized and will provide a nice showcase for anyone interested in participating. I hesitated to call many of my friends on your site because I didn’t want the sponsors in essence to get a ‘freebie’ from guys they normally pay to do their art, but I’d like to get more submissions from which the sponsors can select, and I’m running out of time. I need to have everything up for the sponsors to look at, which brings me to Motorburg — would you mind if I were to post them here? Would I do that through Wordpress, or is there another method that I’m unaware of? I know how to post them in a ‘garage’ on the Hub, but I didn’t know if there’s a way to do that here.
With ARMO, we are trying to inspire kids to become as car crazy as all of us, and maybe give a few of them some direction. We’re talking the next Charlie Hayward or Brian Stupski here! I recall being the youngest artist/contributor to CarTOONS magazine, and sitting in Dennis Ellefson’s office in the basement of a building adjacent to the main Petersen building on Sunset. It was like going into the dungeon, but what a place with all the art Dennis had spread all over the place. Anyway, that was my aim in proposing this project to SEMA, and ARMO was very receptive even though it’s taken a lot longer than I had anticipated to get it going. It will come together in March, and be in print by April for distribution to car shows and events across the country, another good reason for artists to get involved.
Thanks for your time and consideration, as always.
Best regards,
Jason R. Sakurai
