Mercury Muse: Stories & Humor
Introduction by~ “Righteous” Lee Scoopworthy, Editor in Charge
Welcome readers, I’m glad you’ve decided to peruse “the Muse”. Here you’ll find you can stick your nose in just about everybody else’s business without endangering your own proboscis and you might even come away with a chuckle or two. We’re “almost” like any other newspaper today with reporters out searching for stuff to sensationalize, exploit and poke fun at… however, I can guarantee you won’t need the dog to “fetch it” when you’re ready to read. We’ll be keeping a focus on our automotive agenda, (we all know what rich fodder that is) but humor and satire knows no boundaries, so sometimes you’ll see us stray beyond the fences for a good story and to bring the dog home. If you’ve got a “good one” that you think your fellow “motorheads” might enjoy, run her up the flag pole and see if you can get ol’ “Righteous Lee” (that’s me) to salute. Hey, it’s your duty to pass along gossip and hearsay, and it’s the Muse’s responsibility to print it. Keep a twinkle in your eye and ever watchful for the A-musing and Amazing. When you find it, don’t forget to pass it on… if enough people read it – someday it might be “gospel”. Desper•Auto: Body & Paint Shop
Introduction by~ Richard “Pencil Dick” Desper, Co-Proprietor
Hey kats & kittens, come on in the shop and let ol’ Dick expose his nuts and bolts approach to the Desper Bros. experience. First, as you may or may not know, it’s me that draws ‘em up on the shop’s dry-wall, and then my brother, “Bumper Jack” (he’s an artist with a torch) sets to work building these one-off creations for your enjoyment. I run the paint shop by the way. For your information; we’re a top-drawer “Feature” complete with building, painting, graphics and upholstery articles. Yes sir-ree, when it comes to one-off cars with an emphasis on individual expression, this is the place where it all happens. We offer to you all aspects of unique automotive construction and finish and here you’ll find examples of completed cars and those in all phases of the building process. We’ve got some marvelously talented craftsmen and artist workin’ around here and they all like to document their work and pass it along in pictures and words… “what goes around, comes around”, as they say. Thanks for takin’ the tour, and if any of you want to get your fingernails dirty, come on up to the office and show me your work, if ya got what it takes, there might be a stall for ya at Desper•Auto. Historicar Society: Automotive Nostalgia and Classics
Introduction by~ Professor Weldon D. Tales, Curator
Hello visitors. As chairman of the Motorburg Historicar Society and the head curator of it’s automotive museum, allow me to take you on a tour of our city’s auto-athenaeum and collection of cool things past. As caretaker of motorbilia & memories, it’s my duty to preserve all things of automotive significance and to stir your recollections of those things remarkable and worthy of remembrance. I must warn you though, we make no distinction between the famous or infamous and the museum houses a repertoire of as many historical “misses” as it does items that were hitting on all cylinders at the time of occurrence. Our repository of remarkable recollections has a place reserved for all things of automotive interest and public contributions are always most welcome. Items concerning historical automotive design (both production and rod & custom) as well as memories of bygone days, memorable events and pioneers in automotive sports and construction are just some of the “gems” we’ll be sharing with our fellow “motorheads”. Remember, it’s important we don’t get lost in the past, but equally important that we also know… from where we came.
