Back in 1983 Dick Wells invited me to come and speak to a gathering of street rod manufacturers at the NSRA Nationals in Columbus, Ohio. At the time I was president of B&M Racing and Performance and I guess Dick thought I might be able to bring something to the party.
I prepared a speech but when I got to the cocktail party prior to the banquet and talked to a bunch of the guys there, I realized that my prepared speech was totally wrong for this group. I can’t even remember what it was about but instead of giving the prepared speech I just got up and talked about how I got into cars…
